The lighting master plan for Observatory Hill balances a number of considerations. Not only was the safety of the students living in the area important, but because of a nearby observatory, Dark Sky requirements were also integral to the lighting design. The overall design does more than simply meet footcandle and light pollution requirements; it adds interest and creates a unique sense of identity by integrating "lighting moments" throughout the area.
